Chocolate chip cookie in a mug is fast, easy, decadent, chocolatey, and just right for a quick, small dessert to share…Or not!
If you’ve spent any time at all on Pinterest searching for things you ought not be searching for—like a one minute chocolate chip cookie in a mug, seriously, who does that!—then you’ve probably seen these one-minute recipes for cakes or cookies in a mug.
I had always turned my nose up at such things, thinking they couldn’t possibly be good or even worth the one minute of my time.
Until last year, during Snowpocalypse, when David and I were snowed in on our anniversary and instead of the fun night out we had planned, we were having leftover soup for dinner and no dessert.
So voila, time to try the one minute chocolate chip cookie in a mug…and we liked it. Really, really liked it. It actually takes slightly longer since you do have to grab the sugar and flour and an egg, but still. You’re done in five minutes or less.
Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug
This is a recipe that you shouldn’t have in your arsenal of recipes because it’s so darn easy that you can just be sitting there on the couch at 9 p.m. and say to yourself, “Gosh, wouldn’t a warm chocolate chip cookie be awesome right now?” and instead of telling you that it’s too much trouble to turn on the oven and whip up a batch of cookie dough, Yourself will say back to you, “So go make one of those Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug things. You know it only takes a minute.” (Is it just Myself who talks back to me or does Yourself do that too?) Oh the humanity!
And so you rouse yourself from the couch, grab a pat of butter, couple of spoonfuls of sugar, flour, drop in some vanilla, an egg yolk, throw it in the microwave for about thirty seconds and YOU HAVE A CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE IN A MUG–THAT YOU EAT WARM WITH A SPOON!
This is bad, friends. Very. Very. Bad.
Happy New Year from Myself to Yourself.
